The country’s chief of state has unleashed yet another sexist remark. We are saddened and outraged with President Duterte’s statement that being gay is an illness. Homosexuality is not a disease that needs treatment nor something that needs to be cured from. The World Health Organization has removed homosexuality as a disease in the 1990s. It is high time that we stop belittling anyone because of the person’s sexuality. We should treat each other with respect despite our differences and disagreements. This Pride month, we will continue our collective efforts in our unwavering fight for human rights and equality. We #ResistTogether against discrimination!
